The fight isn't over yet - we still have two Senate seats to flip!

On January 5th, the balance of power in the Senate - and in the country - will be decided at the Georgia run-off elections. Join Mijente and GLAHR Action Network to make sure every Latino in Georgia is ready to vote for the two Democratic Candidates: Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock. We stand a big chance of taking the power away from the Republican Party.

Keep track of key dates in the Georgia January run-off elections.

Voting FAQs

Why are these elections extremely important for the future of our country?

The race is tight, but if we get the 283,000 Latino households in Georgia to vote as part of a large multi-racial coalition working in Georgia, we can flip the two remaining seats in the Senate. This means we take the power away from the Republican party.

Can I vote this time if I didn’t vote in November?

Yes, anyone who didn’t vote or is just turning 18 before January 5th can register to vote until December 7th, 2020. Click here to register for the first time or check your registration.

I voted in November. Why do I need to vote again?

The results of the senate race from November were so close that it triggered a runoff election for January 5th. This is a completely new election meaning that everyone needs to vote, whether they voted in November or not. You can vote early in person starting December 14th, 2020 or vote on Election Day on January 5th, 2021

Can I vote at the same place as last time?

Some counties have the same polling place and early voting locations, but some don't. We strongly recommend you look up where to vote before heading out.

Can I vote on Christmas or New Years?

Most early voting locations are closed on 12/25 and 1/1. We strongly recommend you look up the hours of early voting locations in your county before making a plan to vote on 12/24-25 and 12/31-1/1.

Volunteer FAQs

What is the most helpful way to take action if I live in Georgia?

If you’re in Georgia, please join our volunteers who are already knocking on doors. Meeting our gente where they are and having authentic, face-to-face conversations is one of the most effective ways to ensure Latino voters head to the polls.

What about COVID safety?

For your safety and the safety of our community, we will have a strict safety plan in place for COVID. All participants will be required to comply with these protocols and will receive safety training prior to knocking doors. Mijente has also been safely knocking on doors in North Carolina and Georgia and our organizers will be using that experience to inform our process. That said, everyone should assess their own health risks and make decisions that are best fit for their particular situation.

How can I get involved if I don’t live in Georgia?

The rest of our team is hosting phone banking sessions, so please join us! You don’t need to be familiar with the candidates, logistics, or political history in Georgia. We’ll help you with scripts and detailed instructions.

Do I need to be a Spanish speaker to join a phone banking session?

English speakers are also welcome! We call voters who speak both languages and will train you on what to do if you can't communicate with someone.

Will I get a script and/or instructions for the phone banking?

Yes. We’ll give you access to our phone banking platform, which contains scripts and detailed instructions. Someone from our team will also attend every session to answer questions live.

Strengthen our campaign by volunteering your time.

We’ll double up our in-person efforts with phone banking sessions to make sure we reach everyone. You don’t need to be familiar with the voting dates, process, or the candidates themselves. We’ll have someone from our team to answer live questions during every session.

We’ve been organizing for this moment for decades.

In partnership with GLAHR Action Network, SONG Power and Working Families Party, we’ve been organizing on-the-ground efforts in Georgia for two electoral cycles. In 2018, we launched the first partisan campaign targeting Latino voters in support of Stacey Abrams. And, ahead of the 2020 presidential election, we reached 370,000 voters through door knocking and remote efforts. In addition to making sure they were ready to vote against Trump, we defeated two anti-immigrant Sheriffs in Gwinnett and Cobb counties. Georgia is a priority state for us and we will continue making sure that Latinos there make their voice be heard.

Meet our featured partner in the Georgia run-off.

For the last two electoral cycles, we’ve partnered with GLAHR Action Network, a 501c4 non-profit political organization dedicated to organizing, educating, and mobilizing the Latino community in Georgia and the new political arm of the Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights (GLAHR). Building on over 20 years of experience working throughout the state of Georgia, GLAHR Action Network uses electoral and political strategies to improve the lives of Georgia Latinos and the immigrant community. They are one of the Mijente hub partners and have played a key role in determining local and national strategy for organizational initiatives such as Fuera Trump.

“We must do everything in our power to vote out Trump and all those who mirror his policies in our state. We will defend our right to vote and inform our community members about how to exercise our power to show that in Georgia we stand up for immigrant rights and for the rights of all of our communities”
